There are many different species in the nile river basin biome. Being the longest river in the world, it has hundreds of species of fish and many different species of birds, mammals, and reptiles. Moving north throughout the Basin, a marked decrease in biodiversity is seen because of the gradual changes in the different ecosystems and their climates. While human activity has reduced some of the biodiversity through pollution, climate change and introducing new species (the nile perch made many different species of fish go extinct when humans introduced it to the biome), this is still one of the most biodiverse biomes in the world and more careless actions could lead to the extinction of species, some of which only live in this biome.
